paperjamfest:

Paper Jam 2 exhibitor #3: Iasmin Omar Ata

Iasmin is another highly talented artist already well on her way. A recent graduate from SVA she has already produced a print for Telegraph Gallery, a mural for Babycastles, and launched her comics series “MIS(H)ADRA” about the struggles of living and coping with epilepsy. Iasmin has exactly the kind of talent and energy that we strive to showcase at Paper Jam.

oh haaay look who’s going to be at Paper Jam! (it’s me!!! (*´`*) )

i’ll be there with a gang of new stuff - i’ll post up again later as we get closer to the show. hope to see y’all there!

Anonymous said: Hey, I hope you don't mind me asking what the meaning of your comic title 'mis(h)adra' means? I'm assuming it has some interpretation in arabic :P

hi, i don’t mind at all! i’m very interested to see if people “get” or are curious about the title so i’m more than happy to explain. the title is a play on two Arabic words: “misadra” (مصادرة, pronounced “miss-saw-dra”), the word for “seizure,” and “mish adra,” which is Levatine dialect slang for “i cannot.”

* thank you!! and yes, totally - i’ve watch a decent amount of anime and read a toooon of manga, lol. my biggest influences there are definitely Sailor Moon, FLCL, and Eyeshield 21 ♡

for digital stuff, i use Photoshop CS6 with a Monoprice tablet and FRENDEN brushes ♡♡
